Penny Auction | Online Bidding | Cheap Auction My experience using QuiBids

Here, we have QuiBids customer Travis H. offer his thoughts about our site. We encourage all of our customers to share their thoughts, so if you'd like to be featured in one of our customer testimonial posts, please email us at support@quibids.com and tell us what’s on your mind!
I discovered QuiBids.com through an advertisement I saw on Facebook. I was skeptical at first because as soon as I visited the site I saw numerous items such as PS3's and Xbox 360's going for up to 80% off! After taking a few minutes to understand how it worked, I thought that the idea of paying for bids, but winning at up to 80% off if I won was a good deal so I followed the easy steps to register and buy bids and got started right away. After registering I searched the site for what type of products I could bid on, this was easy to find because everything is right on the home page.
I like the products offered on QuiBids because a lot of them are what's really popular at the moment and items I don't have. They also have some unique electronics items that I think are awesome, but wouldn't have thought about ever buying. Since joining, I have participated in multiple auctions and have won a PS3 along with a couple of cheaper products. To win the PlayStation 3, I spent about $20 in bids and $30 for the closing price so I got it for fewer than 50 dollars! I received my PS3 within 5 days of purchasing it, which was a great turnaround time!
As far as my thoughts on the auction model and on bidding, at first it was a little nerve racking to participate in these types of auctions because I don’t like the idea of losing money, but I think QuiBids offers a cool feature with their "Buy Now" program. Pretty much, the "Buy Now" program allows anyone bidding in an auction to place the value of their bids towards the cost of the item if that person doesn't win. I don't think I'll always use that feature when I participate in QuiBids auctions, but it is nice to know that I can buy the item at pretty much its cost.
Overall, I really like QuiBids.com as a way to try to win popular products for cheap. I feel the concept and the site feel and look is great and it really is exciting to participate in the auctions...even more exciting to win! The only negative thing I see is that if you don't want to use the Buy Now feature on an auction you are competing in, there is a chance you just lose that money. Other than that, I'm glad I discovered it and I plan to continue competing on QuiBids for products.
Sincerely,
Travis H.

Quibids Strategy - The 7 things you need to win more auctions

Quibids Strategy

Do you ever wonder how some people just seem to pull in all the big QuiBids auction wins? It’s kinda the natural inclination whenever those QuiBidder of the Week photos pop up every Monday, like “Dang. That’s a lot of stuff.”

Since we QuiBids employees can’t bid on the site we actually experience that exact same reaction. But we also talk with customers pretty regularly —both on the phones in our Customer Support department and on our social profiles like Facebook and Twitter) and in doing so we’ve noticed some trends among our more successful bidders. So check these out and see if you’ve got what it takes to win auctions consistently on QuiBids.

1. Patience

Setting yourself up for success in QuiBids auctions starts with waiting for the right one to come along. In evaluating a potential auction for participation, here are a couple questions worth considering:

  • What’s the Buy Now price on the product you want and how willing are you to use that option?
  • What other products are paired with the one you’re interested in?
  • Are you going to use Real Bids or Voucher Bids to bid on this auction?
  • How many auctions for that product can you bid on in the next 24 hours, and at what times?

The time to strike is when the stars all line up with favorable answers to these questions, but you need a certain patience for that time to come!

2. Shrewdness

Coming up with a really sharp strategy for winning an auction is half the battle but it’s an integrally important half. It’s different from having patience because a really sharp strategy is going to help you overcome adversarial factors like the time of day and other bidders’ interest in the auction. You can find some pretty good strategies in the QuiBidder of the Week and Tips & Strategy sections of the QuiBids blog.

3. Execution

This is the other half of the aforementioned battle. A strategy’s all well and good but if you don’t carry through with it then all that time spent planning goes to waste. While being decisive may not always guarantee victory, I can guarantee that it’s a better strategy than waffling back and forth, trying to decide if you really want to go through with it or not. QuiBids auctions are fast-paced, so once you decide to go after one, go after it! Don’t just stand around wondering whether or not you should while other people get in the mix and bid.

4. A sharp focus

It’s easy to lose sight of your goals, so keep your focus where it needs to be by writing them down and keeping them near your computer.

5. Good management skills

QuiBids is a big website and there’s a lot to keep up with! Knowing when your Voucher Bids expire, how to easily get more bids without spending any money, and keeping track of your account settings are just three day-to-day things you’ve got to stay on top of if you’re going to get the bang for your buck. Luckily we’ve got My QuiBids and the QBar to centralize a lot of this stuff, but it’s still good to stay on top of what-all QuiBids offers you by staying knowledgeable, and the QuiBids blog (which you are now reading) is a great way to do that.

6. Consistency

Speaking of the QuiBids blog, we update it every day and that’s how often you ought to get into the habit of checking in with us if you want to see increased success in your auction game. Brushing up your skills, learning about new features, and staying up with our free-to-participate-in promotions will keep you in the know around here.

7. When the occasion calls for it, all-out, nuclear aggression

Sometimes you just gotta go bonkers. Some of our most successful —and by “most successful,” I mean “winningest”— customers are the ones who don’t back down from a fight. So if you’ve spent months stashing away extra bids and now you’ve got a thousand to burn through in hopes of grabbing that super-nice HDTV, well, let it burn!

Quibids.com Reviews - Real Bids vs. Voucher Bids

Within the wild, wonderful world of QuiBids, you’re well-served to operate on a strategy.

Like Bobby Fischer sacrificing his queen to win the Game of the Century, or Bruce Lee pummeling opponents with a combination of minimal movement and extreme speed, you win QuiBids auctions with shrewdness, by laying down the right bids at the right time for the right item.

Yes in the QuiBids equation, even something as simple as choosing the right bid works as a variable. You’ve got two types to choose from —Real Bids and Voucher Bids— and using one instead of the other can mean the difference in saving money or just breaking even.

So let’s take a minute to understand each type’s properties before discussing when to use Real Bids and when to use Voucher Bids.

Real Bids

The easiest way to distinguish Real Bids from Voucher Bids is to ask, “Did I buy these?” Real Bids come exclusively in Bid Packs (the starter Bid Pack costs $60 USD and comes with 100 bids), which can only be purchased at the Bid Store. Real Bids are fully refundable, so long as you don’t use them in an auction, or let them sit for a whole year.

Please note that Real Bids lose a few properties if you don’t use them a year after purchase (don’t worry — we send you an email notification two weeks before this happens), and that they do expire completely after three years. For more information about that, head over to the QuiBids FAQ.

Voucher Bids

Voucher Bids are a little more complicated, but just because there are so many different ways to accumulate them! We’ve detailed those a little further down in this post, so for now we’ll explain Voucher Bids’ properties.
Since Voucher Bids are won at auction (most commonly), and never directly purchased, they aren’t eligible for a refund, nor can they be used toward Buy Now. They also expire at a specific time, which you can monitor in your Bid Credit History.

When to use one and when to use the other

Now that we know their properties, we can logically incorporate Voucher Bids and Real Bids into our respective QuiBids strategies. Let’s go ahead and outline a few scenarios where you’d want to use one in place of the other.

The crowded auction
Let’s say one of QuiBids’ more popular items has caught your eye: an iPad or a big-screen TV, for instance. It’s probably going to draw a lot of interest, which means a lot of competition, which means your odds of winning the auction will naturally decrease. Let’s also assume that said iPad or TV is something that you simply can’t live without. You’ve set your sights and now you’re going after it, no matter the cost.

This is the kind of scenario (high-risk, high-reward) where you’ll be much better served by using Real Bids. With increased interest in the auction, you’re going to have to fight off a bunch of other bidders, and some of them may have deeper pockets than you do. If you’re willing to go the distance bidding, you’d better have the Buy Now option on the back of your mind, as it’s a safeguard against spending too much money not to win the auction. And since Voucher Bids undercut your Buy Now price, we’d advise you to hold on to them for another day.

When the stakes are low

What’s this? A $25-ish product with an attached Gameplay may go un-bid on? Might as well commit a few bids to winning it since you’ll collect some when you play that Game, am I right?

Low-stakes, low-rewards auctions like these are perfect for Voucher Bids. Since there’s a low likelihood that you’ll want to commit a lot of time, energy, and money toward winning them, you might as well use a more temporary, less valuable bid. Voucher Bids will expire sooner, and since you didn’t spend any money acquiring them anyway, you might as well sling them around after lower-value items. Users win thousands of auctions on QuiBids every single day, the bulk of them being for items that cost less than $50.

Think you’ve found a diamond in the rough? Maybe an Xbox bundle worth near $400 that’s just 15 seconds away from being claimed for less than $5?

Well heck, get in on the action! If nobody else is too interested (maybe because it’s early in the morning, or everybody’s already got an Xbox, or whatever) then you might as well toss a couple Voucher Bids at it, right? You may not be extremely likely to win, but you’ve also not committed many bids to the item. Of course, if you decide you really do want to win it and interest increases, you can always switch to Real Bids if somebody else decides they want it too.

As we promised earlier in the post, here are a few easy ways to pick up Voucher Bids.

1. Follow QuiBids’ social media accounts
We give away free Voucher Bids (sometimes 50 at a time!) every day on our Facebook and Twitter accounts. It’s as easy as a quick signup and a retweet!

We also have seasonal promotions on other platforms, but you can read more about that at our company blog.

2. Play QuiBids Games!
Win an auction that came with a Gameplay? Head over to QuiBids Games and earn more Voucher Bids. It’s as fun and easy as a couple spins on the Deal Wheel.

3. Refer Your Friends
Most people say friendship is priceless. We say your friends are worth 25 Voucher Bids a pop. Just kidding! But really.

4. QuiBids Badges
If you haven’t been checking up on your My Badges page, you should definitely start doing that, because you might have won free bids without even realizing it! Head there to claim Voucher Bids earned for unlocking badges, and see what you need to do to unlock more.

5. Hybrid Auctions
If you’re interested in nabbing Voucher Bids the old-fashioned way, then here’s an unauthorized but nonetheless useful tutorial about how to win Gameplay Auctions and auctions for Voucher Bids so that you’ll never have to spend another cent on Real Bids. Happy bidding!
